Hydrogen Oxidizing Bacteria as Poly(hydroxybutyrate) Producers
Batch culture of Ralstonia eutropha using the recycled gas closed circuit culture system was conducted in order to develop a practical fermentation system for industrial autotrophic culture for poly (hydroxybutrate) production. The gas phase of the culture system consisted of substrate gas so that gases in this culture could be recycled as long as the amount of the gas consumed would be repleni...

متن کاملMarine hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria as whole-cell biosensors for n-alkanes
Whole-cell biosensors offer potentially useful, cost-effective systems for the in-situ monitoring of seawater for hydrocarbons derived from accidental spills. The present work compares the performance of a biosensor system for the detection of alkanes in seawater, hosted in either Escherichia coli (commonly employed in whole-cell biosensors but not optimized for alkane assimilation) or differen...
متن کاملArsenate as a Catalyst of Oxidation
Arsenate exerts a catalytic effect on the oxidation of pyrogallol by atmospheric oxygen, on the catalytic oxidation of pyrogallol by metallic iron, and on the presumably enzymatic production of CO(2) by Elodea canadensis.
متن کاملOrganocatalytic asymmetric Michael-type reaction between β,γ-unsaturated α-keto ester and α-nitro ketone.
A Michael-type reaction of β,γ-unsaturated α-keto ester and α-nitro ketone was established. With a thiourea catalyst derived from cinchona alkaloid, the reactions afford products in 47-94% yields with 68-96% ee.
